On February 5, 2014, the railfan photography community descended on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad in Virginia City, NV (near Carson City and Reno) for the first day of a two-day Pete Lerro Photo Special.

Also featured is a shot of the doubleheader on Day 2 with the 29 and ex-McCloud River Railway 2-8-2 #18.

This is the first freight train to operate on the V&T since the abandonment of the Carson City to Virginia City line in 1938. Since the mid 1970s, the V&T has slowly been rebuilt from scratch, and is now up to 13 miles of track that follows the original roadbed for the majority of that distance. Day 2 to follow soon...
