I received my Big Boy and upon inspection, the switch cover has some sort of residue on it. I tried wiping it off, but it does not come off. Has anyone else received on with this issue?

Negative, here........is this possibly a poor paint job? I would send these pics to Lionel Customer service and request a new cover right away before too much time passes and they renegge due to normal wear and tear and possible smoke fluid damage to the paint.

It's only my opinion, but to me, it looks more like the cover rubbed the packaging while in-transit fairly hard and left these markings.....
yes my bb has same issue call lionel should have parts in stock in about month
was told to call back in about a month they would ship a replacement
Thanks for the replys. I sent CS agent at Lionel pics of the cover. Out of the six engines I received this week, sending back one of the Ferromex ES44s and this BB cover, not bad I guess for the quantity of purchases.
Yes. I would definitely get that cover replaced as soon as possible. I did not have this issue with my Big Boy.

Lionel said they would have parts for the Big Boy in the latter part of Feb. They are aware of the issue with the covers and will send a replacement out. Just have to contact CS in Feb to receive one.
I'd like to check my cover but my BigBoy is already at Lionel for a dead tender!!
Maybe they will check it for me before they send it back.....

send an email with the ra number and explain the issue. maybe they can help.
smoke fluid won't do that. It was a bad finish from the start. Lionel will get you a new one.
Received a new Sand Cover for my Big Boy today. It was hassle free, Lionel took care of the issue without hesitation. New one matches perfectly.
