I Stopped by Harry Heike's yesterday to pick up 2 engines he just weathered for me. I opted for a light-to-medium weathering and very happy with results. There a few pictures of the engines and a video showing them in action. The 2-8-0 is an MTH Premier and the 2-6-6-2 is a Scale Lionel Legacy

If you are considering weathering some of your trains give Harry a call. BTW Harry's a forum sponsor.

I contacted Harry about weathering some engines after I purchased an already weathered Lionel Y3 2-8-8-2 at York this past April. When I saw Harry did the weathering I had to have a few more done.  I then looked the product up on the Lionel Website here was the catalog description.

Hand Weathered for a Touch of Realism

Faded lettering, mud, dirt, dust, and rust are just a few of daily issues all engines face on the tracks. Our new weathered engines are done by hand in the USA by train enthusiast and expert Harry Hieke. He brings over 20 years of experience and personally details and weathers each locomotive.

I only kept one. However the other which  club member now has was also weathered at the same time.

Thanks again for the sale of a really nice engine
