Engine, Weaver 2-8-0 with factory TMCC. Initially engine runs fine with TMCC. After 15 or 20 minutes engine acts up. The rear coupler will open. Lights will start blinking. Engine stops. Turn power of for 20 minutes. Restart. Runs good for 15 to 20 minute. Then same problem. Disconnect TMCC base and it runs in conventional without problems. The load on the engine is 7 plastic box cars and caboose.

Any idea what is wrong and how to fix it?

I have a pretty good idea of what's wrong with it.   I have one with almost the exact same symptoms, it's the TAS EOB motherboard.  Specifically, it's the PIC processor on the TAS motherboard on the one I have.

On mine, the first clue is the whistle starts randomly blowing.  The coupler fires, the engine takes off momentarily, then stops.  If I let it cool down a bit, it'll run another 5 to 20 minutes and do the same kind of thing.

I had a couple of EOB's that were heat sensitive.  They were in diesel locomotives and would behave like described above.  If I took the shell off so that air could circulate, they would run indefinitely.  The heat sink definitely got quite warm to the touch.  I had some other EOB's that did not have this problem.  All have now been replaced with Cruise Commanders.
