After a few weeks of work, I was able to get the old layout down & start on another new one. I built this new, smaller one in our office room. I tried to make it a fun layout for the kids. Below are the first pics of the new setup. Shelves will go in under the board once I'm done w/ the wiring down there. One cool thing about this layout, is my son picked out every accessory that I put on it.

Christoper......I understand your logic for the new layout....but man....even I'll miss the old one! The simple yet great work I admired.  Great stuff as always!!!

WALT RAPP  thanks for the good laugh I'm a senior and have moments occasionally but thought I'd missed from 2017 to 2107 whew and yes I'm kidding we all make typos no biggie but still my sense of humor kicked in.

always  enjoy seeing your Christmas layout photos a treat throughout the year.

is the layout still up or?

thanks for the words 'StPaul'.  No, the layout is down.  As soon as no more people schedule visits I start taking it down.  Now all the cleaning starts - YUCK!

I've been making some headway adding more tracks to the layout and I am pleased to report that she is starting to shape up. I'm adding an O54 loop inside the 2 mainlines just so I can run some more trains.  Also a short spur track that will stub end across the bridge. Still working out the details on the one side so please disregard to the temporary Lionel support boxes.

I painted my Atlas truss bridges too and was very pleased for a job done with just spray paint.

I modified a single track Atlas bridge to reduce its length from 40" down to 26" so it would fit better on the new loop. I also painted it silver just to make it stand out a little bit from the other bridges. I'll be selling the leftover pieces over on the buy/sell board.

It came out a little too shiny for me but thanks to some nice outdoor weather and a can of Dullcoat I was very happy with the results.

With all this new track my local inspector has increased her patrols of the layout searching for defects and napping places. On the real railroad We have a rule that you must wear a safety vest if you are working near or in the foul of the track so I found a kitty sized safety vest on Amazon. What a world we live in.

Sadly, no......some of the new modules have some clearance issues.....this year we will be re-engineering them....

I damaged three locomotives this year before I dragged out the old faithful WbB motive power. The TE-1 didn't see the light of day.

No clearance problems on the 0238 curves on the home attic layout. Three days to retirement. Before the end of February, I'll get everything setup give it a go, and shoot a video. Still haven't done a TMCC check. It's about time.

0238 that is almost 20-feet.  WOW!
