It's October and the Fall train season has begun. It's now time for Weekend Photo Fun.

Last Saturday was the Virginia Science Festival. The VMT participated and we had a table set up to discuss model railroading.

Visitors from the great white north eh!

Motor6

Those automobiles are not what they appear to be.

on the left is a '54 Monarch and the other is a '49 Monarch.

Monarchs are not Mercuries but a distinct make sold by Canadian Ford Dealers.

Be sure to check out my post "O Scale Motor Chronicle"

This week's subject is Unique Canadian cars.

These are some shots of the passenger westbound passenger platform at Duncannon.  I posted some construction shots of this a few weeks ago.  The model is now finished and installed.  I'm also reposting a comparison shot of the prototype and model that was created by my son Steven.  It was posted last week, but not until late in the weekend.  He did a great job with it, so I wanted to repost it for everyone to see.  Gives you a good comparison to the prototype.

Wow! You are your son are very talented and it shows on your layout!!

Happy October!

Here's an overview shot of the yard -

Motive power lineup - looks like the dispatcher has his work cutout for him!

The Lackawanna heritage unit leads a stack train on the main -

Here's the Y working a photo freight

New Reading Heritage unit arrived yesterday

Got this off the forum last week & it arrived yesterday. Could never have too many GP38-2s

Lorenzo checking out some NS OCS-

NS GP38-2 5311 (ex CR/PC 8128) w/ local ME2 passing the Jersey Avenue station in New Brunswick on the NEC. Traffic was rather light that afternoon, as this was the day after the Amtrak accident in Philly. - New Brunswick, NJ - 5/14/15

NS SD60E 6950 (ex CNW SD60 8038) leads Pulaski District bound 201 through a downpour - Christiansburg, VA - 7/27/15

NS SD70M 2628 passes the old N&W CPL in Christinasburg as it motors eastbound w/ a manifest. These signals have since been replaced w/ generic modern ones.

A pair of ex Conrail motors lead 337 down the old Southern R Line in Fort Mill, SC. NS SD60M 6788 is ex CR 5542 - Fort Mill, SC - 5/11/15

NS Dash-9 9923 leading a westbound train of Top Gons over the Pulaski District in Marion, VA - 7/29/15

Since NS 1700 has been repainted into EL colors, thought I would post a shot of her in black. Here she is leading the daily WPOI-16 into Browns Yard in Parlin, NJ back in 2012

Christopher,

That's it!  Thanks for posting the photo.  In this area, there were line poles on both sides of the tracks, but I left them off the layout as I was concerned about them getting broken as well as interfering with layout photography.

Below is a side by side comparison of two of the photos.  Note how I modeled the peculiar railing with the triangular top.  The other end had an odd enclosure built of railroad ties and topped with cinders.

You clearly have the same railfanning interests as my son Steven.  You two need to meet!

It looks so different today. Where the platform closest to the river was - you would never guess!   I'll actually be up that way next week for a few days, then to Altoona

Do we change our layouts?

Ohhhhyeaaahhh...

I thought my fellow-hobbyists might find this interesting.

Here is the same real estate, as a suburban neighborhood, as it has changed through the years, seen from a variety of angles...

What do you think? Has change been good for Moon Township? (I'm not compliment-fishing, here, but interested in your viewpoints, yes, indeed.)

Neal,

That is just like photos of my parents' house when it was first built in the 1880s.  Yours looks great!  Later a brick sun porch was added on the front and a two story addition replaced the single story kitchen in the rear.  I built a model of it 25 years ago and have posted here before.  Trees in the front block the view a bit.

Every word of approval (and even suggestions for improvement) is much appreciated, Engineer Joe, so Thank You for your very positive comment. (I've even been known to take some kiddin' around, too, as Frank53 would confirm. ) FrankM.
