I was driving back from my LHS the other day when I passed the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey. I couldn't believe what they had out in the yard!!

Sure would have made a great addition to the "Streamliner" event here at the Old Spencer Shops this past May.

Here are my contributions for the weekend. Hope you all have a great day.
If you right click on a picture and then click "open link in new window", you will get a full scene shot that will give a lot of detail... Hope you enjoy and I appreciate you taking the time to look.
Action on the Seattle & Yakima RR
Love the photo of the NYC diesel, Mike.
No layout photo so far today, computer with the photo files crashed last night.
Have a great weekend Everyone!

Here are a couple of pictures that I took this morning of the roundhouse area. I have been re-doing this area and just last night finished getting the track in place so that it lines up with the turntable bridge. It is about time since the turntable has been in place for quite a while now.... Right click on a picture and then click on "open link in new window"...this will give you a full page view.
Here's a photos of an Atlas Trainman station (formerly one of four Plasticville kits released about 15 years ago). It bears a resemblance to the PRR station that stood at Port Royal PA until about 1968. I really didn't want to scratchbuild a model, so we painted the Atlas station in PRR colors, added signs, weathering, and a few details.
Solitary Sanding Tower: Waiting in Line...
In the 1950's the rural town of Beawslaiw was located off of State Route 106, on the Southern Pacific main line, somewhere between San Francisco and Los Angeles. This town existed, in part, because of it's passenger depot and small rail yard that served both the Southern Pacific and Brisbane & Bushong Railroads. The small yard had an even smaller engine service area. This included a single track with one sanding tower. Since the B&B was just a small branch line, the SP diesels in the area would go first. Every morning started out with the warmed-up SP engines lining up at that tower. It also gave all of the SP railroad men a chance to catch up on train gossip!

Happy weekend everyone! No new pictures taken this week, so here's one that I posted last week on the "Vignettes" thread...
After reworking the A&W root beer stand for a friend found Here It was time to work on the Drive-in movie entrance. Taking a Plasticville Turnpike toll booth and converting it to the entrance for the Drive-in.
Cut off the long ends
Repainted and detailed
Added led lighting
Added movie posters and signs
An FYI for signs and posters:
I have found that of all the picture programs I have and some are very high end the best program for handling reduction of pictures and posters is Microsoft Word.
This along with the Miller Engineering Drive-in sign will add a nice addition to his layout.
A stock before and my after shots I get so impatient starting work I always seem to forget the before shots.
After looking at my own pictures I did not like the entrance sign on top so I changed it.
Changed the Exit sign also:
Happy October everyone!
Work continues slowly but steady on the new layout.
Some shots of last Saturday's railfan outing -
NS 119 - Concord, NC
Amtrak 75 - Concord, NC
NS 053 - Fort Mill, SC -
Lucia & Lorenzo are always up for some train watching!
Nelson W; very nice job.
Atlas GP9 converted to DCS by Brian at Stockyard Express.
Have a great weekend!
Nice photos thus far.
Enjoy the layout variety and full size pics.
We had CN family days recently; They open the railway yards to the community and families of the employees for the day. Here are a few photos.
The model railways will post separate. Click on pics for a bigger view.
The little kids ride on CN train they love this looks cool, full size loco for tour, the Candy table the kids love, a wind up Police car, ride on railway from our local railway museum, and Rocky Mountaineer leant a couple of engines and some passenger cars for a ride through the rail yards.
NelsonW,
Do you still have the Plasticville Interchange signs from the toll booth? I have been looking for two of those sets of letters (I can use them for my PRINCE station). Nice looking drive-thru.

I Chris, good to see a shot of the 2245 Texas Special AB set again, but I see you degraded them to a lower shelf. I hope they come up for air sometime soon. Great photo's as usual.

The model railways at CN Railway days.
My layout on the floor. Power for the layout.
A few loops of track with my newly wed daughter helping out, and her design of the train wedding cake mountain now hosting 4 Lionel CN Geeps pushing pulling sets of MTH snow plows and caboose. On top a small log train and bears on the snowy peak (foam not wedding cake). (look at July weekend photo forums for details on the Mountain wedding cake build and wedding)
The steam engine on the 3rd loop of track at CN show is the Weaver CN U4A 4-8-4
Middle 2 tracks are 3 rail but trains are 2 rail scale.
Outside tracks are 3 rail.
Here is some history of the locomotive;
http://www.themetrains.com/roy...m-weaver-o-gauge.htm
2 outside tracks were MTH 3 rail engines (except centre orange and black disel Atlas dummy) inside loop Weaver 2 rail scale
The garden railway group had a few live steamers they ran during the day.
Canadian Toy Train association carry's its layout in this newly repainted trailer. Steps on both sides allow children up to run trains. The new remote control Thomas with reinforced control dials was popular and the older kids got a chance at the Cab 1.
Great day lots of fun lots of families and kids new to model railways. Click on pics for a larger view.

Love the job you did!!
Nicks trains wrote; Just wondering, what is this engine in the middle?
Weaver U4A 4-8-4 see details updated in post above
Christopher, my wife wants to know where you found the train fabric for your table skirt...
Thanks,
B
While I'd normally restore back to original, I thought I'd live a little. Instead of basic black I chose to go with the rarer green version for this 390E in hopes that a set of Stephen Girard cars comes along some day. Hand striping by my friend Rollie.

The neighborhood is having a Community Yard Sale this morning, so we took part. Just for fun, I put out some unneeded train stuff. To my surprise, so far have sold 4 cars, 2 signals, and a tower kit! Well, what's left may show up on the OGR for Sale forum! LOL.
Brining the new weekend photo fun back to the front page.
Great pics, everyone!
Peter
