I haven't posted on here for quite a few weeks. Still busy working on the town of Port Royal. The town is being built on a piece of 2 inch thick pink foam which will be dropped into the layout. Right now, it's sitting in my workshop. Here's a shot with the buildings pretty much finished, but there is still a LONG way to go, such as weathering the streets, utility poles, ground cover, street signs, people, etc., etc.  But this will give you an idea of the progress I've made on the town...

Sweet. How did you make those incredible sidewalks?

Real nice!
You need a Nighthawks Cafe...

not sure why I'm posting this but it's just because wires drive me crazy and these 2 images are all about SOME of the wires in use for creating 2018 CHristmas layout memories.  AND consider that the AIU is only controlling 3 switches, nothing else this year!  no accessory ports used even.

The MTH trannie powers the 2 command lines.  The ZW powers 2 conventional lines.  The 'V' is for street lighting.

Jeff,

I saw your post regarding the sidewalks I built. Thanks for your comments.

They are built of 3/16" thick MDF which scales out to a 9" curb. Prototype is 8" (before asphalt overlays on the street at least) so it's pretty close to prototype.
Sand the top corner slightly to round the edge, then spray paint with Khaki colored Rustoleum or Krylon. Joints are just pencil lines, then weather with chalks, and dullcote to get off the shine off the pencil marks.
Show replacement slabs with other sandstone colored paint or if you used say Rustoleum Khaki, you can patch with Krylon khaki which is a slightly different color.
I fasten them in place with superglue (ACC) which may not really be the best adhesive to use. Clamp tightly to eliminate or at least minimize the gap between the pavement and the sidewalk. There is a slight gap around the curved curb in the photo below which I will have to fix.

Holiday running of the Black River & Western is in full swing. Snagged this picture going underneath the bridge with number 60 at the station.IMG_20181201_131709534I'm not sure what the whole schedule is for them, but they have been doing some later running(past 5). I think I heard the whistle around 8. I'll have to see about getting a ride during the night runs.
