Picked up another Dorfan loco with a decent casting. This is a clockwork with reversing motor. Missing a nameplate on one side of the cab.

Chris and Steve: NICE finds! :-)
Issmayer has done some very nice litho models. I just founded this one, unfortunately without tender. Funny to see how the bumpers have been oriented, to the back of the loco. Generally they are looking to the front. The coupling system is not original and needs to be replaced.
Have a nice weekend, Daniel

Daniel: NICE, dare I say, cute? LOL!
Art, cute is perfect for that little thing....
I agree! :-)
Still miss Fred! :-(
Started working on transforming this No 8 shell/frame and two 332 baggage and a 341 observation cars into a much anticipated Christmas consist.
Everything has been broken down into its individual parts, paint removed using TSP. Wheels, axels, journal’s, couplers and other parts have been cleaned and initially polished. Still have a some touch ups needed.
I’m still undecided on the final color combination. It’s going to be either Red/Green/Ivory or Red/Green/White or White/Red/Ivory.
What are your thoughts????

Aw, the peacock/orange is my favorite color combination. Actually the silver looks kind of cool. What about silver with red trim? That would be different and Christmas-y.
These Dorfan pieces have been on the shelf a few years. Finally made a running outfit. Loco was clockwork shell with no motor and the mounts broken off. Didn’t take much to stuff a Marx motor in it. The car roofs were repainted a flat red and look terrible but it all works. Buffed the rust etc off of axles and oiled up. They were dry. Cars are heavy so I’m pleased the loco pulls 4 of the larger 49x series cars.

Don’t fret over the peacock/orange cars, I picked these up at the last York at a great price to specifically convert. I have another set headed by a peacock No 10.
As far as the silver/red color combo I will be giving that some serious consideration. It certainly would be different. Thanks!

way too hot outside ,so spent most of the day redoing the boarder around the right side of the upper level,,,,,also have redone that side to make it look better,,,when i removed all the af prewar tube track,,,,i put a 1/2 homasote panel up then stuck the foam "blocks" panels to that with double sided heavy duty carpet tape,,,,before with mth tunnel portals,,,,which i liked and was an easy fix at the time, terry

My last couple of Dorfan loco additions to the stable. A green 51 and a blue clockwork 157. The 157 just needed a normal oiling. The 51 needed to shell split to get grease on both ends of the commutator and also the gear mount. Borrowed some coaches from other sets. 2 more original Dorfan runners.

Wow again fellas !
This time I see another couple of fine fellows had aquired a couple of beautiful examples on my "Must Find " list !
Top Issmayer Daniel and Steve your new clockwork Dorfan is to die for
Up until about 10 minutes ago I only had a very whimsical Chad Valley Loco and tender to offer up this week , but then I put an item from Greece on my watchlist and the seller immediately sent me "an offer I couldnt refuse! "
Chad Valley ...
And FINALLY my clockwork Kraus !!! ( the one coming from Greece of all places)
Some very minor panel beating required but runs like a top ( Apparently)
No Side Rods , and doesnt look like they were ever present probably late 20's?
Terry: just wondering, did that boarder object to being "redone"?
Fatman: NICE Kraus!

Hi Daniel Greece is a bit funny , many sellers think things are made of gold but occasionally you find the fellow who actually wants to sell something rather than dream of owning a holiday villa at your expense LOL
One thing I think living here in Australia has taught me is that if you are going to have to import your toys , then it doesnt really matter where they come from, the whole world is your oyster and the pearl might be hidden anywhere ... I drive a SAAB and needed a new headlight ... it was cheaper and quicker to get one from Lithuania ( where they were made at the time ) than to get one locally or even from Sweden !
I have found some good train deals in places you just would not think they exist , I even found one little Bing in my collection in Malaysia ! It takes a great deal of trust tho, sourcing things in unknown markets , but perhaps I have been very lucky because there have been no major "blips" yet , except maybe my trains that are stuck in Spain as their postal service has pretty much stopped sending stuff to Australia apparently due to lack of aircraft space coming here ... I think it has been over 6 weeks now and their postal service will not even accept the package lol!
Another oldie back on the rails. An Ives #30 clockwork. It had two bad drivers when I bought and one immediately crumbled. Dig through the parts bins and found a repro Flyer driver that will work. Not perfect, but you can’t see it anyway.

Hello Rich:
I was curious to the weight of the bracket specs to support your 408. I am looking to add some SG shelving but was concerned on weight limitations.
Thanks,
Michael
@Lirr Fan1 Michael the shelving system is by Rubbermaid which I bought from HD about 5 years ago. Those brackets are 8 inches in depth and the site states a pair will support 275 pounds. I’ve had no issues with them.
Another clockwork now cleaned and running. When I got it, the motor was dirty and gummed up and would barely run. Some cleaning and oiling and it’s now ready to go. Not a big fan of Lionel clockworks but this one is decent.
