Well, here it is:  I went to the Greenberg show today, only looking for a box to fit a K-Line

single-dome tank car.  Didn't find a box, BUT, I stumbled into this find on the corner of a table

I was only half paying attention to.  Here was a Lionel 6464-size boxcar #6-29202, a Santa Fe

tuscan red marked 'El Capitan' for $27.

I can remember oh, maybe 45-48 years ago when I saw the postwar version of this car on the

shelf in Rosewood Hobby in Linden, N.J.  Never bought it, as others would catch my eye and I

let this one slip by.  I have no idea what a postwar in good-excellent would cost, but this one

today fit the bill.  Funny thing though, I came home and tried to look it up online in Lionel's

product search, but got no result.  Could this car have been uncatalogued?  Maybe so, for, had

I seen it advertised, I would have grabbed it long ago.  Year of manufacture is 1997.

yes, its uncataloged. I forget the exact details it was either offered to those who purchased a 6464 three pack or Santa Fe F3 (dummy I think ?). If I recall dealers were supposed  to give the cars at no charge to purchasers of either of these items, but more than a few dealers wound up selling the car by itself. There was also a Maine Central 6464 (29203) offered in the same fashon.
