i would not mix tubular track with Ross/Curtis/Gargraves switches.  with the cross section track profile being different, this combination would be hard on the wheels and disastrous for traction tires.  Gargraves track is the only thing i would suggest in combination with hi-rail type switches.

Weaver doesn't make track.  Williams makes O gauge tubular track that is almost identical to Lionel tubular track, only difference is that it has more metal ties per section than Lionel.  Having said that, Williams has been offering sectional track with a built-in roadbed with some of their starter sets which is made by Atlas O so it looks similar to theirs.  But if more realism is what you are looking for, go with Atlas O, MTH ScaleTrax, Ross, GarGraves, or maybe even Lionel Super O.

Great comments guys.  Years ago when I started my layout, it was Lionel, K-Line or Gargraves track.  I used a combination of Lionel 0-72 curves with K-Line extra long straight tracks.  If I had it to do over, I would do the same thing.  I would change nothing.

I admire the scale looking track guys have available to them today.  I wanted a toy train layout and I am very happy with the results.

I'm a tubular layout guy too.

I own about 40 pieces of REALTRAX and am ready to throw it out!  I thought it would be great for temporary floor layouts when grandkids visit, but this past week about 8 pieces seemed to have a connection problem.  Not the first time, but the disease seems to spreading to more and more pieces of track.

Starting over, no doubt I'd do tubular.  If I wanted realism, I'd do Ross and or Gargraves.

Along with tubular track I am using plastic ties from 3R Plastics, in 027 and O gauge sizes, and S gauge ties as well. I have some American Flyer from the late 1950's.

Also have some older Moondog(now out of business) plastic ties.

RMT is making some nice track & switches in tubular. Too bad they only make 031 & 072 curves & switches. I like to use 042 curves for some of my O gauge trains, have a few pieces that need 042 curves and 072 is too large for my layout.
