I spent the weekend with my grandsons, which included about 10 hours of playing trains and a visit to a train store. Gentree, 4-1/2 ran every train I own several times. The twins, Tanner and Easton are almost 3 and mostly just pushed the horn button several hundred times, LOL!

I spent Friday afternoon helping Sunst/3rd Rail/Golden Gate Depot set up at the annual Chicago O Scale March Meet, and then all day Saturday helping to answer questions, and finally Sunday morning helped tear down and pack everything in their van. All in all, a GREAT weekend!
I finished my lesson planning early so I went downstairs and ran trains...until I fried something in my K-line Porter...
Went to a train show, as a matter of fact.
Went to the OMRA train meet in Springfield Missouri with my friends Mike Burnside, Richard Gonzales, and Owen Collins.....had a wonderful time!! I started a thread with pictures if you would like to take a look....

I'm adding another elevated loop for my Std Gauge. Don't cha just love it? Room to run more Std Gauge w/o switches.
Well as matter of fact went over to local toy train shop. Was greeted with info that the Lionel PRR Truck & Trailer had arrived. Which was good news unto itself.
About ten-minutes later Mike Reagen popped in with a couple of new "goodies" to show off. Lionel is now located about 30-miles by car (may be 20 by crow). The new LionChief + loco he put on the layout is very impressive. Obviously we all talked toy trains for some time. Had some interesting discussions. Then he and I talked about our mutual hometown which bought back good memories and feels.
A great day!

You sure has a wonderful time with the grand kids. Maybe someday we will have one of them to play trains with. In my case it would be a great grandson.
I went to Ikea and purchased 4 extra Expedit units. Together with the 6 that I already have, these will be the support bases for my new layout. I use these as the bases for my layouts, as besides being an ideal height base that is very strong, they are very easy to build and provide a substantial amount of under-layout shelf storage.
Took another "dead" engine off the tracks. No lights, no sound, no anything. Pondering my next move.

I work four ten-hour days, from Monday thru Thursday...so my weekend is Friday thru Sunday. On Friday I worked on an undecorated Weaver 50 ft tank car. I painted it and made some custom decals on decal paper. I have not applied the decals yet. On Saturday I put the finishing touches on a Freight Station building I've been working on for the last two months. I put some signs on the front and rear. I put some advertising signs on each side. I put one of Blair Line's frame structure signs on the roof, so it is pretty much done now.
Since St. Paddy's Day was Monday...a work day...we celebrated it on Sunday. I...of course...cooked Corned Beef and Cabbage. We even had green beer! It was a lot of fun! Happy belated St. Paddy's Day to all.
