After studying the one pic I don't like the river bank on the left side of the river. So if I get a chance tomorrow morning before everyone else gets up I am moving the river bank up and making it curve toward the back. When that paint dries I can add the water color and eventually cover that water with realistic water............ Paul

This morning with everyone still sleeping I had a chance to redo the river bank. Once that paint dries I can apply realistic water to the green. Pics........Paul

I started painting Preiser 65602 Seated People again. I opened three packs of 24 and painted flesh last night. Today I am painting the clothing.

Thanks Brian- too bad it doesn't run, gotta open it up one day and see what's going on.
Fixed 2 post-war flat cars: Radar (got the radar antenna to rotate again); Cherry picker car with astronaut...(restrung the the cable and spring on the extension ladder). Although not to sexy, it's little wins like this in the hobby that are just so satisfying..

Nice work Ed. Keeping these old "toys" working is satisfying.
Bob
Thanks Bob.
It sure is, and, these guys are fun....it's mesmerizing watching that antenna go round, and round and round and....
There was something about my GMC truck that drove me nuts. It had round protrusions along the side of the bed, where some Airfield matting was attached. That didn't happen in real life, and those protrusions didn't exist on a real truck. So, I pulled out the Dremel tool and ground them down, and painted them over. Then, I added what I think is a pretty good-looking load.
Look at the bed side, this is what it used to look like.
This is how it came out of the box:

Got the coat of water on. I'll se what it looks like tomorrow. One thing nice about paints you can do it over. Pic.....Paul

Paul: It's looking good, much better now that you re-did the left bank.... Only other suggestion I have is try some darker paint, probably the same green color you're using with black added in.... and make shadow areas working from the ground up especially on the left bank... There are some areas showing the background color through the trees which is perfect for the tree tops, but it should get darker near the ground. I'd use a brush that's on the narrow side as you're really only trying to darken areas between the trees and you can blend it in at the edges where it meets the branches.
Thanks Chris. This is still a huge work in progress but darker is definitely needed......Paul
I am gonna sanded almost all my track bed areas, because i like more older era and how they looking 1940`s - 1950`s. I have watched some older Maine areas old R.R. pics and try to made something same. Later i am gonna put also more green there.

It is a real work of art. The focal point of the layout.
Later I'll experiment with turning off certain sections of the building- but for today, I am just glad it's on the layout and lighted.
Mike;
The pictures didn’t come through. As I’m getting one, I’m very interested in seeing what it looks like.
Thanks

Carved the "hill" I'm going to move my rotary beacon to out of pink foam and added a layer of base paint. Still long way to go but it's a start. I'm doing it off the layout as it'll be easier and then I'll just mount it and blend it into the surrounding area when I'm done.

I had a pretty good day. I ran some trains. I unpacked the new Santa Fe plated set that I bought from @MrMuffin'sTrains and made a video of one of my E-8’s that I bought from him as well. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUv96gLicKk

Johan, I like the look of the sand much better. Good job...........Paul

Thanks Mike. That is beautiful - look forward to Doug letting me know mine is ready so I can drive down and pick it up.
But your pics are missing one thing...

Making progress on bashing a Plasticville coaling tower into a tall, slim branchline one...cutting, piecing, and splicing..unrecognizable, yet using almost all the original parts, except for a few added Plastruct "H-beams". Am going to scratch build a sand tower to mount adjacent to it, also. Just couldn't picture one of those 200 ton coalers serving this dinky short line.
I ran a train as a break from painting more people. This is my first video attempt.

I am getting familiar with my new Canon Power Shot ELPH 190 IS camera. I am also working on several boxes of people this weekend.

What did I do today? Basically, just puttered:
- Play around with Hobby Bricks (see picture) and built a tunnel portal. Not entirely happy with it, but hey - it was my first.
- Planted some trees.
- Installed my new Z4000 and WIU (replacing the older one that had contributed to my power problems of February).
- Ran some trains!
All in all, a great day! -- Dr Joe

Morning Everyone! I am back at least for now! LOL Its been a long 5 days without a computer!
I handed out a lot of likes! Way to much to comment after 4 pages! LOL But I do want to say what great work being done by everyone!
Dr. Joe, you were right it was a corrupted Windows. The 18 year old kid next door came over and acted like it was nothing! Took him about an hour and it was up and running! One problem is I need him to come back over to help me find everything now! LOL
Mitch I hope you are doing well! Take care of yourself!
I didn't get anything done on the layout as I have been working at the store a lot. We are getting new fuel pumps in and I have to be there while they are there to make sure we get what we paid for! I have to go back today for a little touch up of some things. But I do hope to get some work out in the train room today!
Everyone have a great Sunday!

Welcome back Mike. Computer issues suck for sure. I just had my laptop upgraded at work and lost a bunch of programs that had to be re-installed. Amazing how dependent we have become on these gadgets. Computers, phones, tablets, UGHH!

The N/S caboose leading the Radar car is the new CoupolaCam car...once I get to work right I'm going to record these cars with it. Like the Terminator, "I'll be back." By the way, today is Chuck Norris's birthday:

WOW what a bunch of good work guys!
The sand looks good with no ballast! I like it!
Paul your scene is looking better and better !! Amazing!
Mike G welcome back to the dark side! I have two backups on my PC and dual hard drives ( That's what my SIL told me lol)
John nice video !! And the 42 unit train was great! Had to count them because my son said that wasn't many cars! I on the other hand was amazed! My longest train that will fit on a siding is 10 units counting the engine and tender as 1. Very cool!
Ed the only thing Chuck Norris is scared of is Chuck Norris! That's why he doesn't use a mirror! LOL
Yesterday I got my Coal tower! I didn't get to fool with it much. Had to go shopping with the wife. Havent felt well since (something I ate Im sure). UGGGGG Didn't get any cows. Invoice said they were out of stock. So I order a set of Woodland Scenics and a set of Bachmann from Amazon lol

Welcome back, Mike! Glad to hear that our young people are still disposed to help us old people. We gotta keep them working so they can fund our social security! :-)
