Bruce,
I don't think I've ever seen a modern style bridge on a layout, Looks great - more please as you progress
Thanks Mark. I used 6 strand metallic embroidery floss. On the bottom of the bridge roadway I drilled 1/4x1/4 counter sinks and then cut a channel between them all with a dremel. The floss was just over 8 yards, so it was just enough for one side. After feeding it thru all the holes we double knotted the beginning and then filled the counter sink with hot glue. After it was stretched taught the last hole was filled with hot glue and then the tail was laid in the groove and hot glued again.
Bruce, so one continuous piece of metallic floss on each side? That’s an excellent idea and very effective!
Vincent, The Coca-Cola bottle cap facility looks good, but most of all looks fun!
Brian, nice Santa Fe's! I am glad your having fun! Wonderful photo's Thanks for sharing them with us!
Ed, The wooden deck turned out looking wonderful! Nice work!
Lew, That is quite the undertaking! But I would have to say it really turned out looking good!
Bill, take care and keep us posted as you go along! Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you but I can only think its all going to be for the better!
Bruce, The bridge looks great! Wonderful work!
Lou, the turn table it really looking good! I also like the price!
Well folks its Sunday and I hope everyone has had a great weekend! I hope to get out to the train room today to do something, maybe work on my new crane!
Everyone have a great Sunday and please have some fun!
No pictures but me and my son finished all the plaster cloth. Tomorrow we will put a base coast of white latex paint over the whole layout.
The backdrop will ship on Monday and hopefully be here by Wed. It will go on the wall and then the layout can go back in its permanent home for good!
Did I do work on the layout? That depends on your point of view.
I put YLB Batteries in 27 of my steam engines to allow the engines to pass over my Atlas O switches without the sound shutting off momentarily. The batteries made by Gunrunner John come in two ways. YLB #10500 has the 9-Volt battery clip on the end. It clips to the battery clip in the engine. YLB #10510 has a plug that goes into the sound board socket. Both connect to the center roller power to quick charge the battery. The battery then provides power to the sound board as it passes over gaps in the center rail.
It has made running my Lionel steam engines an enjoyable experience.
Please note that the front end cow catcher and front scale coupler are missing from the Southern Pacific AC-12. They did not return on this engine that was serviced by Lionel two plus years ago. (I have been the only family member caretaker for my 92-year-old mother since her two hospital stays and transfusions), and did not open the repaired engine until this weekend when I put the YLB Battery in the engine. Do not trust Lionel Service to do things correctly. Immediately check everything. This why some of my engines have gone back three times, and I have been refunded on two Warranty engines that could not be fixed. I am reluctant to send my new Western Allegheny H-10 that just lost its Cab Light back for Lionel Warranty Service. This is not a complaint, but a statement of Fact. Have a good week.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
What'd I do today? Daylighted a tunnel!
Before:

Before:
Now:
No more switcher crews being asphyxiated in that tunnel while drilling the Paint Factory.
Lew, It looks nice. Tunnels are great homes for spiders and mold and mildew, oh my.
The station looks good, especially when lights are in it.
I worked on mine with interior details and found some O-scale beds for the loft window area from an Ebay Seller in Turkey.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
Lew, I'm glad the crews are now safe from the fumes! The station looks nice!
The bridge looks great there! It is a wonderful addition. Alan did a great job!!
FL9TURBO2, Wow, very nice bridge, it’s going to look good with your trains running over it. Lew, I’m glad there’s light at the end of your tunnel, neat layout, John Rowlen, I like your thoughts, expressions, and art work, Yes, repairing your Locomotives is working on the layout, indirectly, Everyone, I hope you have a great week...
Lew, the new track arrangement looks great! Nice placement of the building to hide the hole!
John, great job on the station! Also the work on the engines are always what did you do on the layout! LOL
FL9TURBO2, Very impressive bridge! Al does amazing work!
Larry great photo's of your layout! But I missed the Red and Silver Santa Fe! LOL
I went out to the train room and placed an old Lionel steam engine I got from my grandson! Not my thing, but it needs to be on the layout somewhere! I know Lew I didn't take a picture so it didn't happen, I will post one tomorrow!
I hope everyone had a great day and a good week coming up!
Looks good, Bill. I hate to think what you can do when you're awake.
Bill looks like a control panel, Looks good and easy to run, nice job!
hope everyone had a good weekend... it sure was nice out !
I had a helper while waxing my truck yesterday...
think he was checking out the finish for me...
try to have a great Monday !! mine started out a little hazy...
Very handsome fascia, Shawn!
Brian, your helper was looking at his/her face in the mirror

I don't think I've ever seen this 2-2-2 locomotive before Brian. Who makes it?
The big question is - how many cars can he pull?
Bob, I can only say I ever saw one of these 2-2-2 engines even move, and it wasn't pulling any cars. Maybe Brian tried it out!
Larry, Great photographs as always!!
Yesterday, I finished spraying the rock textured paint on the rest of my roadbed. I'm letting it all dry well before putting down the track. Things are a bit of a jumble, so no photographs
Brian, Nice photos! does Izzy know that your hiring extra help to take care of things around the place? LOL
Shawn, Nice work on the fascia! Looks wonderful!
Larry, you could post photos of your layout every day and I would still be excited to see them! You have such an impressive layout I wish I lived closer to come and see it in person!
Nothing in the train room today as the wife had different ideas. We relocated a rose garden and cleared an area for a new deck! This summer sure has been killing my train room time, I am ready for winter! LOL
I got up the courage to dust off and run my Vision Line Big Boy #4014 while I was putting YLB Batteries in my other steam engines. There isn't room in the Big Boy Tender for a battery. I was able to get the steam blow-down effect to work on this engine for the first time. That was a nice surprise.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
That’s great John
I sanded and seam sealed the turntable bridge. I also test fit the control house. Still a ways to go. Have to add girders to the bridge sides, add the overhead power arch, paint the bridge, and paint/detail the control house. Oh and add track to the bridge.

I think what happens is that I just copy paste the pictures into the thread and they don't attach. Take a look now. :-)
John, for me not being a Steam guy, I have to say that engine is very Impressive! Nice to see it running !
Lou, looks good. One step at a time, your getting there!
Patrick, I am glad you took time to have some fun! With such a great looking layout like your I could see where that would be easy as long as you have the time to run the trains!
ALDOVER, sorry but still no pictures!
Alright, post two, thanks for everyone who let me know the pics weren't working. Nuked the original post from orbit, only way to be sure.
We lit up a few of our buildings tonight, I found some battery operated LED string lights from an overstock store for .75, I'm going back today to get more. They are really nice because they must be for Halloween as they have orange globes around them and throw off a nice warm looking light when in the buildings. I like these more and more as I don't have to wire them into the transformer and the boys can turn them on and off.
Menards Multipurpose building, I don't have the main lights on as I wanted to see what it looked like just with the LED lights.
MTH train station, Ollie is inspecting it for defects.
We finally got around to running some trains later. :-)

Nice weathering, I like it when it's not overdone.
Great posts everyone. I have to get back in the game myself. Lately all I have been doing is surfing the net and buying. I just ordered some rubber ballast and more Martin Welberg shrubs from Scenic Express. I had been using Brummy's rubber ballast and have not been able to buy any for a long time. It is not scale size but I have always liked it. I was mixing light grey with dark grey but had run out of the dark so I was happy to find it at Scenic Express. I have to seriously change from buying mode to work mode soon before I forget how to....LOL. Pics.....Paul 2
Okay, last night I was busily dismantling my elevated switching yard, running a variety of locos around the tracks, and doing general clean-up, when a nearby power box exploded, putting about 12 blocks without electricity. This morning, I continued to disassemble and clean tracks to make room for the 8.8 cubic foot (34 inches high) elevated switchyard I bought in an open air market yesterday. At 11:30. the power came back on.
My elevated switchyard: gone, but not forgotten.
I continued to put Gunrunner John's YLB Batteries in my steam engines. The C&O Mallet #1521 is the twenty-ninth engine to get a quick rechargeable battery to help the sound systems over the gaps in the center rails of my Atlas O switches.
Update: I just finished putting a YLB Battery in engine number 30, a Norfolk Western Y6B #2171. All engines are now completed, excluding the small engines with tethers or the Vision Line Big Boys with no room in the tender for a battery.
Running the steam engines is now fun without the sound drop-out that use to occur,
Sincerely, John Rowlen

Brain. Never seen a war bonnet in that color
Ed. Love that TBF Adventure did you build it?
Lee, thanks. yes I did. It was an old Monogram Kit I picked up on the Bay. First model I built since I was a kid. 12 yrs. old, I think.
