Always wanting to know more on repairs without getting too deep into electronics. What have you done?

Well not today but these were my last two projects:
Finished putting LEDs in this powered subway car the other day with the help of the folks here.

The 763e I recently acquired finally got fixed today. It was having issues hitting the 3rd rail with the cowcatcher. I didn't want to tackle trying to straighten the frame so I got a reproduction cowcatcher and filed it down on top to bring it up more and used adhesive backed felt along the bottom as extra insurance to keep it insulated.

Great idea Don!

Wow Lou, you ate pretty talented!
Spent several days trying to bring my old TW transformer back to life. Finally discovered that on the backside of one the terminal connectors, the "U" terminal to be exact, the rivet had let go. The wires are so heavy they do not move so it made it harder to locate. The Transformer is a Lionel 1953 model that my grandfather bought for me along with the 2183WS set when he found out my mother was pregnant. I still have the set and the Berkshire still runs, I have had to replace brushes and light bulbs but they don't make them like this anymore. Love that old set and brings back many memories of spending rainy days indoors just running the train,
I did buy a ZW replacement transformer several years ago when I discovered that the TW was not working anymore. With the current Pandemic isolation rules, I found the time to take it apart and get it running along with a little help from Greenberg's repair and Operating Manual for Lionel Trains from 1945-1969.
Updated my collected Under The Hood articles. I really SHOULD put it together into a book...

During the weekend, with help from several posts here, put new bearings in Lackawanna Pocono, 18003. Was running terrible and noisy in reverse, not in forward. Runs great after bearing replacement.

Big Ken, I forgot I have that book! I need to pull it out and start going thru it. I am wondering if there is anything out there for Lionel TMCC and MTH stuff?

There is not, Mine is the 7th addition that I purchased several years ago from the Choo Choo shop in Spencer, NC. It does have a bunch of great information for repairing post war trains, which is why I bought it. I do not have anything more modern that an MTH Southern F3 with PS1. I have a couple of post war Lionel engines and southern Mikado from 1992. Some of the Post Was are a 726 RR and a Texas Special F3 from the 1960's. Maybe some day I will get some newer engines and control systems, but conventional is still fun.

Thanks. I'm not that talented. If I can do it anyone can 🙂.
