1950 to 1960
Mine is a rendition of the '49 showroom with anything from 30's tinplate to modern diesels. I suppose as far as "modeling" goes, I try to keep it as accurate to the current as possible (things you could see if you went to the tracks right this second). Ocassionally a scale steamer makes a run. What's the point in playing trains without a little bit of fun?

Depends on my mood:

Mid-1950s. No autos newer than 1957, usually.

Modern day BNSF, what I see on the rails around me today is mostly what I have. However, that's not set in stone, older items are also welcome.
The one where big steam pulls intermodal trains and 89 ft auto racks
From the Civil War to the present and everything in between, heavy on the 40's, 50's, and 60's.
Late steam, early diesel.

If I like it. I buy it, and then find a home for it on the layout.

1940-1968 (the end of the New York Central) though I'm not very fussy about everything being just right. Close is good enough for me.
I'm not particular......1890 through 2015.

The steam to diesel transition era -- 1952-53, so I can run most Santa Fe steam as well as most first-generation Santa Fe diesels.
