You can run a logging train on Arbor Day and be overwhelmed by the irony.
St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner!
Time to fire up the Southern Crescent, and sing a few shanties over some fine suds!
You gotta be kidding me---Happy York Day is coming up
That "train thing" we look forward to every spring and fall

Summer! Summer in its entirety is a holiday for me. Actually Spring, followed by summer. I hate winter, and I hate the cold, so I try to celebrate EVERY day above 60 degrees! Yes, trains are 'better" in winter, but swimming, cycling, shooting, barbecuing/grilling is ALL better in summer! I try to enjoy the trains year round, but for me, variety is what keeps things interesting and I'm completely burned out on sub-freezing days. I even miss cutting grass at this point!
The other awesome thing about Summer? It leads up to Fall, and train season starts all over again!
Bagelman,
After the winter we had (or are having) in the NortH East, Summer will be a Holiday.

I think I probably speak for most people in New England...SPRING!!
To me, everyday is a holiday - I don't need to wait for specially designated days. Fortunately, working on or running trains is weather independent, for the most part.

It's still winter around here (taken two days ago)-
Note the dog path.
Then comes St. Patrick's Day where all the Irish track layers on my home road take a day off to celebrate! Guinness cooked Corned Beef and Cabbage, Oh My!
Some great train meets left. Chicago one of the best (so I'm told) and York. Then it may be time for a rest.

It's true, trains are good all year long. Stumper, I'm with you on this one. This is a brutal
winter. Enough already! I have a friend who loves this weather. I told him to seek professional help. The rest of us "normals" are ready for spring! Lets go to York!
Don't need any holidays if you are a full time model railroader. Fix up the basement, attic, or a room.

I can't believe that some one on here said "I hope the summer goes quick". Maybe they should live in Maine.
Once you pass 70 everyday is a holiday.
Really?

Give me MORE SNOW and COLD. The only thing to do is go into the basement and play trains.
Spring and summer bring yard work and mowing. Yuk! I'd rather play trians.

That is a really cute Easter village, walt. Well done.
I almost agree with Trainman 713, Baseball, but for me the next real holiday is Hockey playoffs. After the Blackhawks and Blues are both dead, or champs then, and only then, it's baseball season.
Going to York in April!!!
