So meaning that unless your engines are not blue tooth equipped then you still need a base right?

But if you have BT legacy locomotives you don’t need a base?

BT engines today don't need a Base. A bluetooth remote/app can interact with the engines today and tomorrow. At least in the current app available today, not all engines features might be available. I'm not sure if those become available with the new Cab3 app communicating to the same engine via BT.

A big plus one on that.  On a similar note, all my connected services in my car stopped working when the phonecos dropped 3G.  My manufacturer did not make this model have an upgrade from 3G to 4G.  The previous series of my model were able to upgrade from 2G to 3G (I know since I had one).  I guess they want people to buy new cars, which I'll have to do eventually, but it won't be their model..

I did download the Cab 3 App. I do like the appearance but I see no advantage for my layout without a base to be able to control everything and especially switches.

For smaller non switchable layouts it looks better than the Lionchief app so that’s a plus. I used the LC app on the single BT equipped engine in the starter set I began with and it was ok

Change is hard enough when you have no choice! For now I’m good  😁

Where did you download it from?  It's not available yet.

Dave explains this in the Virtual Legacy Users Group.  The video below starts at the 53:26 mark right before we discuss this.

It being free has nothing to do with it not working with a Legacy Base and LCS WiFi.  Dave explained the reasoning as it just became to incompatible as development went on.  He doesn't rule out that may change.

That it very disappointing. After they announced the the Cab3 App and that it would be available for purchase, I bought a LCS Wi-Fi module.

I guess that was money down the drain.
