It was Norfolk southern SD40-2 and Union Pacific Big BOY. I have the SD40-2 great engine and dummy that go's with it
I remember UP Big Boy -- dealer got a demo set -- boy the overhang on that BB on the dealer track lo.
I got one of the first Legacy engines it was the Norfolk Southern SD-40 when it came out, Lionel was putting on a Legacy Demo at our local hobby shop when I made the purchase. They asked to use my SD-40 on the demo layout and ran it with the Legacy Big Boy. After that demo I was convinced I could never go back, been having fun ever since.
The first Legacy Steamer was the Big Boy, the first Legacy Diesel was a GP-30 (CP #5000).
First Legacy engine in "S" was 4014 Big Boy, Got it and love it.
