Yes, I agree... I think Lionel did 4 road-numbers in Reading livery. And if produced well, I could see double-heading two road-numbers for a very long coal drag.

Most likely an aux tender. I'm hoping we'll see some of these in the 2017 Signature Catalog? For selfish reasons, I'm at least hoping for an AFT aux tender that coordinates with the AFT GS-4. But if we're all lucky, Lionel will offer aux tenders for all the "specialty" locomotives.

Yes - it is the Aux Tender which came from a NYC Mohawk. I made my own to go with my MTH version:
well here is a pic of the MTH Aft T-1
Looks like a great model.
Has the 1980-81 Chessie Safety Express ever been made in O Gauge?
I have 2 Reading T-1's from MTH with PS-2 in them. It's difficult for me to post photos of them because of not having a decent type of digital camera.
Any way the Chessie T-1 the American Freedom Train engine is a Reading T-1 repainted to Chessie colors. The auxiliary tender I am not sure who provided that but it was needed because of not having enough places for water for the steam engine to operate.

Lee,

Just picked both up both my Freedom train and In service reading 2100 from Trains N Things.
Fortunately the store also had the PS3 MTH Reading T-1 (Rambles paint scheme) so I took a few pictures of them side-by-side for good comparison. It appears that the headlight placement is the same for all the models and maybe that was just the way the Reading did them. I cannot speak on the Chessie and Freedom train versions.
Interestingly the MTH engine appears a wee bit longer than the Lionel one - maybe just my eyes playing tricks on me.
And just for you David I checked - it comes with a dummy coupler for double heading! (or even triple heading!!!)
Could we see a video next?
was thinking the same thing

MTH has one in the 2017v2 catalog, page 87 with AUX tender: http://mthtrains.com/sites/def...6-16%20WEB_lores.pdf

Good catch. Better then I would have done. Gald to see it appears you picked up the BTO model as well. Cant wait to hear your opinion on it. Thanks again for selling me your spare aux tender years ago.
The other Allen.
The Reading looks great to me.

No problem - hope it is still running well for you.
Here's a video of the MTH Chessie T-1 Set on my layout:
I have one each of all four of the Lionel road numbers left:
Can we see some video?
All,
Here is a quick video I made after I unpackaged my T1. Other than the "H" which should be a "T-1" (translation error?), I'm ecstatic about the model and the sounds. I'll do another video tonight with the whole consist (Engine, Aux Tender, 17 car consist) with the smoke on.

Not sure how good the front coupler is on the T-1 for double heading, you need to check that out before double heading 2 T-1's or you may have a derailment. On my MTH Reading T-1 the front coupler(Lionel style post war) is mainly for looks as I have tried to pull a freight car with it in reverse and the freight car jumped around because the T-1's front coupler didn't have proper turning ability.

I sure like the sounds on these new T1's. May have to break down and get one. I was leaning towards the AFT version but knowing that the 2100 and 2102 are going to be back on the rails soon maybe I should think about one of those versions. Does anybody know what the paint will look like on the refurbished engines when they get back on the rails (All black like original or Rambles?)

Lee,
The auxiliary tender came from a NYC Mohawk.
Yep, and it still exists today, after it's run with the Freedom Train and 2101 afterwards.
It resides today at the NYC museum in Elkhart, ID as RGSX3001, though it actually came off NYC 3042. Sadly, it also got burned in the fire that damaged 2101 and was never restored in any way.
2100 actually carries the tender 2101 carried through it's Freedom Train and Chessie runs. After the fire, 2101's tender was found to be still in better shape than 2100's was, so they got swapped. So, the tender with 2100 today is the one used behind 2101 on the Freedom Train. I got this shot during it's very-short-lived 'dinner' train service in Tacoma:
God, those markings on 2100 make me shudder even still, after all these years. With the old railfan adage of, "Ride it when you can because you never know when it'll be gone," I did ride that Tacoma operation once and was going to go again when it shut down. You could have clocked this operation's lifespan with an egg timer.
Here is my full consist (15 cars (MTH & William) with smoke off:
