What brand and type of scour pad gives the best results as a replacement for the original pad on your Trackman 2000 track cleaner?

Which have you used and prefer -- a regular abrasive pad that could possibly scratch surfaces OR one that's labeled scratch resistant and guaranteed not to scratch any type of surface?

Dennis, Scotch Brite pads are currently available in both a green somewhat abrasive pad and also a blue one labeled scratch resistant and guaranteed not to scratch any surface. Which did you use? Also, would you on this thread share or email me where you found Trackman 2000 pads are currently available?Originally Posted by Dennis:

I am the reverse of your query.  I used to use Scotch Brite green pads on my homemade track cleaning car but switched to Trackman 2000 pads when they were still in business.  So the reverse should be good for you.  Scotch Brite pads are a little thicker.  They come in packs of three.

Kenn, I don't know the answer to your first question.  I built my track cleaning car about 10 years ago and don't even know if there were other choices then.  I know now there are several different choices, even some with foam on one side.  You don't want those.  Mine are green and have some kind of white printing painted diagonally across the pads.  I bought the brown Trackman pads at York when they were still in business and had a booth there also several years ago.  They are both very durable so I have never needed any more.

Here's a comparative photo of the two pads.  I also recall now that we had a thread a few years ago about Scotch Brite Pads that some members were concerned that Scotch Brite Pads had metal fragments in them.  I did a scratch test thusly: With a knife I scratched a SB pad over a piece of white computer paper which produced some small flecks on the paper.  I then held a magnet over the specs and some of them jumped up to the magnet, thus proving that the worriers were right.  Some folks said they didn't care and would use them anyway, whereas others who, for example had engines with Magnetraction, decided they would not.  For this reason, maybe those you described as "blue, scratch resistant" may be the ticket if they are the right size (thickness).
