Picked up this pre war classic AF 2029 Billboard. After a conference call via string connected soup cans to the chief foremen of Harmon and Topeka Shops it was suggested adding steam to the whistle sound. For the collectors out there nothing was harmed or altered.

As Scooby-Doo said, "I don't get it." Seriously though, looks great Pete. 👍

Dave, the billboard came with the air whistle. Apparently Flyer made quite a few different ones. I just added the smoke unit.
I was actually drawn to it for the billboard. As a Central guy you have appreciate the fact that it features the Grand Daddy of all Hudsons, J1a 5200.

Laz, you have to realize we are low tech here. Legacy Schmegacy, who needs it?

Here is the before.

As Pete stated, this is a prewar American Flyer whistling billboard, it will not be found in many postwar S gauge collections. It was introduced in 1937 with a full page dedicated to it in the catalog. It was also continued over in 1938, the first year of Gilbert ownership. In 1939 it was replaced with the more familiar 577 billboard whistle.

First time I have seen a billboard whistle with whistle steam, nice!

Yeah, I did see that as well. My uncle's collection does have some prewar stuff, but to what extent again I don't know. This could be a possible thing he would have, that was what I was saying. Also, thanks for the education on the catalog listing.
