MTH finally got the shipment in of their last and only run of Premier E-8's in Erie Lackawanna at the warehouse on 7/20. I have both powered units (#820 & #822) shipping next week.
The only two things I wish MTH would have done different is:
1) That they used the tooling they have for different cab numbers such as #814 & 817 which prototypically had Mars lights, 2 single chime horns, and portholes unlike #820 & #822 prototypically having no portholes. I am wondering if this was do to lack of research or that an HO manufacturer who has done them in #814 & 817 has a liscencing agreement for those numbers?
2) Why is the non-powered A unit they are offering a duplicate #820? Is it that maybe no one noticed this at MTH and or no one pointed it out (meaning us the consumer seeing in the catolog) to get it corrected before production? They could have made it cab #823 which would be prototypical in having portholes, a multi-chime horn and single headlight.
At this point I am just glad they made them period. I look forward to the day when things get back to normal and we can all be safe. I look forward to the day I can run them for the public at the shows on our club layout.
