Next they also need to offer the GATX TankTrain Tank Car B-End with the appropriate RailSounds like the Ethanol Tank Cars.

You only have to buy them once, unless you like to derail your tank cars onto a bare concrete floor. Buying them only one time them spreading the cost out over a decade and taking into account the rarity, $70-$90 per car in a 9 car train is not high priced. The TankTrain tank cars could have been entirely made out of aluminum, brass, & zinc, and even higher priced.

What is REALLY needed is a production run of the 1977 GATX TankTrain scheme UNWEATHERED.

Why has Kader or Sanda Kan not put the O Scale GATX Tank Train tank cars into production for the Bachmann lines since their model train factory was the one in China to originally produce the Tank Trains for Lionel? That production would fill the void in the market for modern freight cars.

They have another GATX CN paint scheme to produce with several variations in number series and graphics.

It would also be great to see the variations that are bright white with large black TankTrain graphics.

If you want 100 tank cars then you have to get a special run of 500 cars made.

Andrew I have been lucky enough to find more than 50 of the CN Tank Train Cars so I am closing in on a GOOD SIZE UNIT TRAIN of them. Some of the Lionel dealers in the past had ordered very large qunites of the Engine and cars box sets and I have a few of those but they also had a lot of the add on's and I was able to locate some of then also. I was not going to pay those crazy prices on eBay and decidwd to wait for a new run of them.

kg I had some of the MTH smaller TT cars but decided to concentrate on Lionel TT cars. Joe posted those nice video's above of the CN TT unit trains. One of them was hard to get a good count on because they moved the shot around so much. But the rail crossing unit train was a good one to count.

The Coal Unit trains I see here in Michigan being hauled by BNSF seem to run around 135 cars with 2 engines on point and a helper either in the middle or at the end. I also like the Lionel CN bathtub gondolas and have a SOME of the MTH CN Coal Porters.

Andrew do you see those BNSF COAL UNIT trains running on the CN main line down your way also?

Possible... but more than likely this is FUD (I.e, commonly referred to as fear, uncertainty and doubt in the computer industry years ago).  Owners of the earlier cars will promote this in hopes of keeping prices of their wares in the stratosphere.

By the looks of things, recent asking prices on the Bay for these items haven't budged a bit.  So there's nothing more I'd like to see than than to have the new cars equal the older cars in quality and detail levels... at roughly HALF the price of the eBay scheiksters.

That would be a big win for toy train enthusiasts.

Well, I have to think about it...

I had the black tank train w/ white lettering on order which arrived. I got a Cibro single sitting here, it was used. I've got a CN, used. I've got a set of CN's on order. I see 7 on the rails (3 org and wh TT, 3 eth w/ sound, and a CN) already....nope, not nearly what you've got I bet!! I started drifting and buying their ctr fl hoppers and mech reefers too. Most are still in boxes. I ran into a deal on 8 Atlas ctr fl hoppers still in boxes too. It's getting so crowded under there. I feel like I'm hoarding them? I'd better stop ordering for a while. At least until I get enough tracks laid to run the ones I bought.

It's cool that Lionel is releasing these. Just so many cars at once is too tough, and of course there's the other scales coming in too.

I'd like to take a G gauge set, and make it look like the tank train ones.

and of course at the same time:

Urggg

Joe sounds like you are headed to a fleet of TT Cars. I thought that when Lionel released the Black bodie TT cars with all white letters they did it with a NS set, Wonder if there maybe a heritage possibility still comming in the TT cars? I am not sure of the number of TT Cars in my fleet but I stopped buying them when the prices.went thru the roof. I figured that Lionel would notice the pricing and release more of them. I was very pleased they have and now that I have my Autoracks I can look into the TT cars. I also like the looks of those GT 4 Bay Aluminum hoppers and they will come after I sort out the TT's to go with all my Oil Refinery needs.I like the idea that they have issued more new car numbers for the TT's

This is my autorack train before I take the Lionels out of their boxes. It'll be half way around the basement. There's also a intermodal train and another one with TOFCs. Then there's all the cars waiting to be two railed. These are some:

Those Atlas ctr flows are 4 packs on the floor with a growing list of Lionels on top. These will be a unit type grain train. The tankers will be some mixed up kind of chemical train?

Then there's the mech reefers I started buying for some kind of fresh produce train. Sheesh. I don't know where you guys put all your cars? I built a yard and it wouldn't hold enough cars the day I finished. I need another yard even bigger. Looks like a second level is going to be a must. I hope these manufacturers don't come up with any more great cars too soon ( like modern mechanical reefers...). I'll have to put another addition on the house for more trackage rights.

Joe I only have about 4 small yards on the layout. BUT I have all drawn up 5 levels of yards that have direct access to and from the layout. Just leave yourselfgood clearence between decks. Mine are not very wide because I am using a long aisle space arross the basement and figured narrow is a lot better than nothing.

Your Autoracks look cool.I think I have 16 mth Autoracks all CN & GT to go with my 12 new Lionel Autoracks.

Did some totals on the TT's 134 all 4 types & 79 Coal Porters 66 L & 13 MTH

Joe I did use fingers and toes and it did take a numer of people standing there bare footed

Nah not 8K I have them all on consignment and when I finish playing with them they go back .

Another topic Joe, I have seen several comments on the OGR that people that pre ordered the Autoracks still do not have them and now the dealers are running out of stock. So did they sell the inventory before filling the pre orders?

Hope you called your supplier and asked about your order!

A freight train with a GATX TankTrain with the CN logo rolled through over the CN/GTW on September 26th. The actual practice is there are only 17 cars in the section starting from the A end to the B end. Only 17 cars, if you are going over 17 cars from end to end you are not-prototypical, and you are hogging all the TankTrain Cars. Share some of them with the rest of us.
