Simple solution to this control system problem. Switch scales and go with HO. The HO people have a standardized control system with a remote.
Plus so much more is available in locomotives and rolling stock. I hate to switch scales but if I sell most of my collection that's what I'm doing.
Ironically, I am coming over to O from HO. I have a nice HO layout with Digitrax DCC and plenty of locos and rolling stock and I still enjoy it. But I wanted to try my hand at O scale, as it definitely has it's own allure. I just could not have picked a worse time to try it because of the total lack of digital command systems available right now (and for the near future). I just still think something was missed by Lionel because there has to my knowledge been no shortage of Digitrax or NCE equipment (the two most common DCC systems in HO scale) during the pandemic. Lionel seemingly just arbitrarily cut off production of the CAB2 way too far in advance of the release of Base3/CAB3. I'm sure the pandemic made it worse, but I think there still would have been a sizeable gap there. MTH I might have to give a pass on as it seems Mike's retirement just seemed to throw that whole company into temporary turmoil.
