Since the Lionel manual states the PWC B-Units with SuperBass FatBoy speakers (Legacy RailSounds)can be added to our favorite PWC (TMCC) or Vintage Post War (Conventional) trains in Conventional Mode...

Has anyone tried adding this B-Unit to a Williams AA set?

The reason I ask is that the performance of the PWC TMCC Southern and Texas Special AA sets with Pulmor motors under TMCC and Legacy control, that I wont purchase anymore PWC sets.

I can save money and get better conventional engines with CAN Motors instead of these horrid modern Pulmor's, and want to add that B-Unit to Williams conventional the same the manual says it can be added to Lionel Conventional.

Anyone tried it?

Thanks csam, you made my day!

Are yo running conventional under the Legacy remote?

At least that B-Unit wont be a shelf queen like the PWC Southern Set.

I really do not like the Pullmor motor/TMCC combo.

Time to buy some Williams trains!

Yep Happy Pappy, although I love vintage post war with vintage Pullmor motors, there is a place for them...layouts for people who like to burn rubber.

Although, my vintage postwar operate better than these PWC sets.

Chip,  It seems that your A unit might have some operational issues that could be fixed as several have suggested. When we had many PulMor diesels they were almost without exception decent runners in conventional or with TMCC. Admittedly can motored units are smoother but you should be able to get semi- smooth performance from them!

The Williams Southerns were can motored and I had installed a ERR system in them and ran them in command exclusively...

ok guys, here is an update!

1) I unplugged my Legacy System and went 100% conventional.

Put a Williams F3 conventional A unit on the track as the lone engine, and of course it works fine.

2) Removed the Williams Engine, and placed my Lionel B-Unit with its SuperBass, Legacy RS, and 2 FatBoy Speakers on the track, powered up and it worked and sounded like a champ.

Remember, you have to wait a couple of seconds for the unit to sense what mode its in and then the superbass diesel sounds kick in and they sound great.

3)Unfortunately, when I place them both on the track, the B-Unit sounds never kick in, its just the electrical type sound you hear on power up before the railsounds kick in.

If you run the engine, the B-Unit makes a thump thump electrical sound.

It is as if, it only sounds and works correctly if the Williams A unit is not on the track.

Any Ideas?
