Does anybody know a source for a replacement for this discontinued part?

Do you mean a smoke unit? If so try to see if an MTH smoke unit will fit into the area of your Williams smoke unit. This is my personal opinion of Williams smoke units; they don't smoke that well!! Go to an MTH authorized repair station if you can't replace the smoke unit.
However most Williams engines are great performers except for the smoke unit, the original smoke unit is usually low performing. That's my personal opinion.

You only get what you pay for.
Give me a shout if you need a Williams Seuthe smoke replacement.
Putting an MTH fan driven smoke into it is a lot more complicated than replacing the Seuthe smoke unit. You have to mechanically mount the new smoke unit, fashion a stack extension to direct the smoke up the stack, and also deal with the fact that there is no power for the fan motor.
Hey gunrunnerjohn, I have worked with Williams a lot and found that their seuthe smoke unit is not a good smoker at all. I would use another brand of smoke unit, non Williams, if I was to keep the smoke feature. Even bought a brand new smoke unit from Williams and it did the same as the old unit so I cut the power to the smoke unit.

Gunnrunner...can I email you? I have a williams 027 hudson that needs a new unit.
I know they are not great...but good enough considering the work required to modify for an alternative (which I did try...can't fit a blower in there without a lot of work.
Also...I have a williams by bachmann scale hudson with a 'weak' motor...good inexpensive source for that?
Weak means it requires a lot of voltage to pull six 72ft scale passenger cars...

The Seuthe unit in the Williams is exactly the same one as is in the Weaver and the older 3rd Rail products. Yes, none of the Seuthe smoke units are great smokers, they're not anything like fan driven smoke.

Sure, my email is in my user profile.
I'd measure how much current it's taking to pull those cars, I use this Harbor Freight Clamp-On Meter. It's more than sufficient for this task, and it's cheap and very easy to use. I'd also check the rolling resistance of the cars.
I say bad motor because this one (a 5207) struggles while another one I have (773) pulls like a champ.
It's one of those 'the longer it runs, the slower it goes' things..
I replaced the suethe unit in my Williams 746 J with a Lionel fan driven smoke unit and I'm so glad I did. It smokes great!
Paul
I did it with a Williams 671 turbine. Only way to go!

Before swapping the motor, try the electronics. It could be the motor, but it could be the reverse board.
Putting in a fan driven unit is the hot set up. Lots of members can do that for you. Not big bucks. The money spent is well worth the finished product.

I agree with Marty, put in a different smoke unit other then a Williams seuthe unit and you will be happy. The original Williams smoke unit is not that good at smoke output.
