What are they supposed to do (meaning the manufacturers). Both Android and IOS offer voice recognition, where you could theoretically 'talk' to text, but it still would mean the person is not paying attention (as a side note, there are studies out there that hands free cell phones cause distraction as well when driving, some states are thinking of banning cell phone use at all, if some havent already, when driving). Even if we had a heads up display or for example google glass, where we see the text in front of our eyes, it still would be a distraction.
I agree with others, people quite frankly are so caught up in themselves, with text and with cell phones, that the blame lies purely on themselves. I see people in NYC yakking on cell phones or texting walking across an intersection, and it is amazing they haven't been taken out of the gene pool yet.
