Where I work I had someone tell me about some locomotive electronic equipment he is repairing. Although I did not completely catch the technical details, he said this equipment basically created a magnetic field to the loco wheels so they gripped the track tighter. Not sure if it was passing a high current from wheel to wheel that would induce a field, or some large electromagnet creating a field.
Sounded like the famous Lionel Magnatraction on scalled up to 1:1 size.
Anyone familiar with this?
