Here, we can share our photos and comments about the train stations on our layouts.

Since my layout is long and narrow, my model stations need to have a relatively small footprint. If I had more space, I would go for big urban stations like those that are replicas of Grand Central Station and the original Penn Station in Manhattan. If you happen to have models of great stations like those, I would love to see them.

I have several small stations on my layout, but the largest one I have, currently on my layout, appears in the photo below:

I know that the above, all metal, illuminated station is a classic Lionel, which I believe is pre-war or early post-war. I recently bought it for a very reasonable price at my LHS.

I have had several other model stations in the past at the same location on my layout. I will share photos of those stations later this weekend.

In the meantime, you can share photos and comments about your model stations.

Arnold

Four stations on my two model railroads. The first one is a model of the station at Phillips, Maine on the Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes two-foot narrow-gauge railroad. Built from a Banta Modelworks kit – on my 10’-by-5’ layout.

Second station is a model of the Ophir Depot on the Rio Grande Southern narrow-gauge railroad. Built from a Banta Modelworks kit – on my 10’-by-5’ layout.

Third station was built from an Atlas O plastic kit – on my 12’-by-8’ layout.

Bridgeport Station on my 12’-by-8’ model railroad also built from a kit.

As they are in descending size; a fifth one, the little "Melrose Park" from Menard's would fit right in.

Here is a standard gauge IMG_2405 [2)IMG_2403 [1)IMG_2402 [1) station I built from Erector set parts and old jalousie porch window glass.  Right now its packed away in a plywood box I made to protect it .  It is three feet long and 10 inches wide .  So far it has been used on a Christmas floor layout at my brothers house . One day I hope to have a permanent layout to  set it on . IMG_7956

Good morning,

What inspired this topic is a 6 mile walk I took yesterday along a bike path in Yorktown Heights, NY, the town in which I live.

As I began my jaunt, I saw the renovated Yorktown train station that was along The Put. Here are photos of it I took yesterday:

I have a station model that is similar in style to the above Yorktown Heights train station along The Put. Here is a photo of this model when it was on my layout at the same location as the pre-war station in my 1st photo on this thread:

As I mentioned before, since I like both models for different reasons, I plan to alternate them on my layout.

Here are a couple of photos of the train station at the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club , my club. 15331714538781533171461514

There are 7 tracks total each about 8 feet long going under the street and head house. I believe the shed is from Bridgeboss.  We bought 3 or 4 units and spliced them together.

Photo was taken while station was under construction,  now  completed.

There are two stations on my layout .... Union Station ( Atlas O ) ... and Patsburg Commuter Rail Station.   Union Station serves long distance passenger trains of the B&O, N&W, Pennsy, Western Maryland, and Reading Co.

Commuter Station Platform is busy as  B&O RDC cars arrive on track 2. IMG_2176

Little station in the redwoods... never got around to giving it a name!

Professor, What wonderfully artistic job.  The level of detail just blows me away.  The worn, cracked, slightly warped decking of a long established station, but still looking well maintained. Perfect outdoor accompaniments.  And then doing a perfectly detailed interior. I feel like I could walk in and pick up my just delivered package.  Thanks for sharing.

Thank you!  It's probably the most detailed scene on my layout.

The station is a Banta Modelworks "Depot at Donkey Corners", which is a great kit. I added a Berkshire Valley station interior detail kit, some LED lights, and a Tomar drumhead for the exterior sign. Plus some Arttista figures and Woodland Scenics packages.

I'd like to claim that the cracks and warping of decking is my artistry, but I think it's mostly accidental from the India ink staining.

There used to be a squirrel sitting on the roof too... gotta go back down to the layout and see where he's run off to.
