Two part question concerning the 1970s era Atlas O.

There seems to be quite a few custom runs of these cars at least into the mid 80's.  These cars came in plain white boxes and were fully assembled (at least what I've seen) How were these runs accomplished?  Dealers, distributers contract for manufacture, just for use of the dies, what? Obviously Atlas had the dies somewhere as I understand those old dies are the basis of today's Trainman line.  I know P&D Hobby and I think Petersen Supply had runs done, who else.

Does anyone have a compilation of what was done?  I have seen boxcars in Baltimore &Ohio, Rio Grande (cookie box), Erie Lackawanna, Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Grand Trunk, Port Huron and Detroit, Buffalo Creek.

Gondolas in Virginian and Great Northern (bright red).

Never seen an insulated box, stock car or engine and caboose in custom runs.

What Else?
