20-3617-1 Will not power up in conventional mode.

I just installed a new Z4000 and run several Post War locomotives in conventional using the Z and no issues. I put on the MTH 20-3502-1 S1 and it powers up but will nit run like it is locked in neutral . I also put on my 20-3617-1 Class A and it will not power up at all. Both of theses locomotives were operating normally when I took down the earlier layout and I was running MTH DCS/WiFi. Not I just want to run them both conventional for now. Any suggestion?
