I recently bought the MTH Coors train and love the action. This is one of the very few trains I'm aware of that MTH produced that the engine "talks" to the cars using specialized DCS commands. As such, I've been told if this board fails, then only specific PS2 3V boards with Flash can be used to replace. I happen to have one of those spare boards, so I set out testing this theory by loading the only file provided on product page for this set which happens to be the *.mth sound file- not the complete zip with the required chain files. https://mthtrains.com/30-1433-1
Can anyone or a service center provide this zip file containing the required chain files to allow the board to talk to the cars? I was happy to see the *.mth file contains the pointers so the the DCS remote has the button functions to open the and close the doors, however, in testing, without changing the chain files as well, this spare board does not talk to the cars. It plays the correct sounds and from the engine standpoint, is nearly workable, but if it doesn't talk to the cars, then that's not really a full solution. Also given the Coor's licensing is gone, this is one of those trains I would really like to ensure I have solutions in place as it's kind of difficult to get parts and only gets worse as time moves on.
As a side note, I'm hoping to get into a ASC class at MTH this year, but the class schedule has not been announced and so no way for some time for me to get the dealer loader access. I'm wondering if that grants you access to files like this not currently public on the product page essential for service and repair of some of these specialized trains. Or even better, can you copy the chain files off a known good board, and flash them to a replacement? You can read a sound file off an engine with consumer loader- but the chain files is a different animal.
