Since nobody makes the engine that I'm currently modeling (other than a "unicorn" kit put out many decades ago by the long gone Locomotive Workshop), I've been making much of the detail parts myself. Unfortunately, nothing other than the Baldwin builder's plates are useful for any other model, but it might provide some ideas of what's possible using 3D printing. May take a crack at making a pilot myself (as I'll need 2 of them, and Lionel wants $32 each) once I get inside and see what's needed to attach it. Getting this printer for Xmas has really proven useful! This was the first prototype for the builder's plate, and is still way too large (as well as having the incorrect build number and build date). I've got them less than half this size, but need to see if I can improve legibility...
