#40 will be running four 40 minute rides from North Wales to below Gwynedd Valley and back on May 18. This will be the first time since 1985 that #40 will leave New Hope rails and the first steam powered excursions since October, 1991 when #2102 ran from Lansdale to Oreland and back. Track speed will be around 15-20 mph. Apparently SEPTA doesn’t mind occasional special excursions and steam. West Chester and New Hope ran diesel excursions before to Lansdale and back from their home stations. I wish they could have run north though over the freight only non electrified part like maybe to Telford and back. New Hope ran diesel rides before from Lansdale to Souderton. Penn Northeastern operates freight service to Telford, connecting with the East Penn to Quakertown. It’s a rare event, but not rare mileage as SEPTA runs on this line every day. Now North Wales to Quakertown through the tunnel with #40 would have been something.

Does this mean we could have a place to run 1361 when she’s finished that’s on the mainline that’s actually IN PA?

Strange I thought the Nittany and Bald Eagle and the Everett were much closer to Altoona and still in PA , last I checked...
I noticed a slight change in the naming/advertising. It seems like they dropped the "Ivyland" from the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad name.
Anyone else see this or know why?

Well, the tourist operation dropped Ivyland through the 1980’s to 1991, it was New Hope Steam Railway. In 1991 new owners bought the line and renamed it New Hope & Ivyland again. But now they might have decided to drop Ivyland from the name although it will probably still be on equipment. The North Wales rides are probably a one off event that will probably never happen again but at least it shows that SEPTA is still open to excursions and steam. I was hoping someday 40 could run the Quakertown line like 425 did in 1987.
