I also got my stinkin’ badge at April York. Still received the York booklet in the mail yesterday. Good bathroom reading to get excited about.

I booked my hotel when I got back from the spring York.
I book mine close to a year in advance - as soon as the website will accept a reservation.
I still have to get my accomodations made as well as register. I will get that taken care of this weekend.

I have my badge and I am looking forward to the meet!!!!!
One of the things I enjoy the most is seeing everyone. Hardest thing is seeing exactly everyone. Sometimes you miss a person here, a person there. I still have yet to see Marty E. I swear in 2021 that I had a chance, but failed to recognize him. The Star Trek shirt should have given him away, but I didn't connect the dots until three minutes after he walked the other way.
I'm just get started in the hobby and looking forward to my first York show. I plan to attend Thur & Fri.
I read through the Spring 2023 version of Clem's York Primer and had a question I didn't come across being covered. I'll be heading out with my wife who isn't interested in attending the show, so she'll drop me off and go antiquing in the area. Since I won't have a car to go back to during the day drop anything off I purchase, is there any option besides carrying around whatever I acquire for the entire day? Is there a place I could drop off a shopping bag of stuff while I continue to walk through the halls, kind of like a luggage check?

If you knew anyone that has a table, I'm sure you can store it under his table.
Hi We already have our tickets and badges as we get them every April and October so were already ready and even get our room ordered way ahead of time so we can stay close to TCA York show were within 4 miles of York and always go to round the clock diner Thursday morning for breakfast! always a great time get good trians parts and get to see many friends! highly recommended!

Hi David from NJ I would suggest if you don't have a place to store your purchases you can buy a collapsible cart and you can push that around as long you did not buy large trains! look on Ebay or amazon many choices!
No carts allowed and strollers only if babies are in them. I used to have the same issue when my wife would travel with me, so I purchased a very large canvas bag to put single items in. For large items I would ask the person I purchased from if they could hold the items till the end of the day and they always said yes. On Friday I would ask my wife if she could swing past about 1:00 if I needed to unload. Funny thing is that when I went back to pick up the large items we would strike up a conversation and end up becoming friends. I look forward to seeing those friends at every York meet I attend.
When I get large items, I stuck them under a table at the Henning's Trains booth until I'm ready to shag out to the car.

A new Pre-show on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday in the Purple Hall for table sellers. So there can now be sales before the main event between table sellers. Not sure how I feel about this?

Interesting, indeed! Looks like they are trying to do their best to curtail those off-site "bandit meets" as best they can. Will be very interesting to see how that all works out. My guess is that there won't be a whole lot of current table-holding sellers who will be interested in a full week of expenses (lodging, meals, etc.). I could, of course, be wrong about that.
What does "open to all table sellers" even mean? To me, it sounds like it means that only table holders can attend and buy/sell among themselves - no general public or TCA members that don't have tables.

If TCA rules don't apply, what's the point of having it, and how can ED sponsor it? If TCA rules do apply, why not just add another day (or two) to the meet? What happens to the clubs who will be setting up modular layouts in the purple hall?

The OP says the event is in the orange hall but the Flyer says purple hall ?
Since the Flyer says this new event is in the purple hall and that’s where the club layouts are set up maybe this is a social event only, and why haven’t the other table holders received this email ?

Those of you who are TCA members, go to the TCA website and open the August 2023 National Headquarters News (which is available online way before the printed copy is available), page 53.......the annoucement is there.
By the way, I am told that the Flyer we get for the "next York" is approved before the previous York is over..... this is a new event and reflects the Eastern Division leadership trying to enhance the meet......I believe it is the result of some brainstorming ( not mine) after the April meet. Let's see how it goes......it could be an exciting addition......

Slightly different wording. "Open to all sellers" on this announcement.
On the "open to all table sellers" wording, I initially took that to mean table holders of the official meet. I now believe this pre-show is for all. A new show at the fair grounds. I'm unsure if it's an official TCA event or just a independent show lumped into a York promo ad.

Actually there was talk a few months ago of moving the Bandit meets to the Fairgrounds. This might be an indication of that.

Well, when everybody finds out who is on first, please maintain this posting and put it here. With gas and motel prices and paying toll hassle, l skipped October, as too hard to get to, and was iffy on the future. Used to camp, but now too old and tired, and that, too, when driving two lane roads to avoid an (only); twice a year hassle. So much for encouaging tourism...

Hysterical. This is the Eastern Division we're talking about, right?
The only thing we truly know will happen next is that the Eastern Division will go completely silent as to the meaning of the announcement. No clarification will be forthcoming.

It means you’ll have to show your table holder’s badge to attend the early event.
I am going to go out on a limb with a hypothesis for this scenario. All sellers means you don’t have to be a TCA member to get a table. I believe everyone will be invited Monday through Wednesday, maybe even non TCA members. Thursday through Saturday will remain the same. This would drive the already declining bandit meets out of business. Also you wouldn’t have to drive to three different locations for three different meets.
My take on this is that it is essentially a non-bandit bandit meet, and will be open to the public. The EDTCA rents the fairgrounds for the week, why not try to help offset that cost with some extra activity? Will it affect the other bandit meets? That depends. If the cost per table is less than what the other venues charge, then it might cause people to jump ship for the Purple Hall meet. What do the other venues charge, anyway? It might also draw some of the people that set up in the Wyndham parking lot who would like to not be so dependent on the weather.
I've heard and read the stories from the golden days of the York meet when there were bandit meets everywhere and people couldn't get to them all in one day. When I was able to come for more than just the regular York Meet, there were only 4 bandit shows left, but it was still fun going to each of them. In recent years, the two fire hall shows merged, and the show count dropped to 3. Now, assuming the regular bandit meets are still going on as planned, the count will be back up to 4. I see this as a good thing, but only if people take advantage of the opportunity. In any case, I look forward to adding Purple Hall to our bandit meet tour schedule and seeing how it turns out.

I just learned that you will need a tax number to set up in the purple hall.
