I was thinking about the progress that is made when any of us is working on the layout and / or a project for the layout.  Sometimes we make great progress and other times it seems that it takes forever.  When we do make progress it is always fun to see what the project looked like before, during, and after we started.  So....I thought it would be neat to see shots from your project or layout over the course of construction.  Perhaps a photo of the area before you got started,  then a few over the course of time and finally a few of the "finished" results...even though you may not be really finished and still have more to do...just a photo or two of where you are currently with the project would be great!  Several members on the forum have documented the building of their layout but many of us have not done as complete a job as they have....but many of you may have taken various pictures over the course of time and have not posted them.  This is an effort to inspire others that may not think they are making progress through seeing other's accomplishments "Before, During and After"!!!  I will start this out with a few pictures of the "beginnings....."

Alan --

Great thread idea! Being earlier in the process than some, being able to see the thoughts, and construction, of the finished layouts, expands concepts I maybe able to apply to my own layout at this point.

I had not realized that your terminal was actually more of a station with through service under the city, by the looks of it, what a grand concept. That may be just the ticket to solve an issue with not having enough room for Union Terminal and service track -- raise the terminal and run the trains under it.

Wigville RR & Norton -- Thanks for the photos, seeing the how your layouts evolve is great.

Thanks!

Jason

OK, I'll play.  Here's the area where my town of Lebanon will go.  The track against the wall will be hidden behind the town buildings.  The track is temporarily laid in place here.

Track is in place with some of it painted and ballasted.  Hardshell embankments are in with some scenery on most of them.  Here is an early test placement of buildings and fronts for the town.

Pink foam background hills are being marked for size and placement.

Final buildings are placed, pink foam is covered with foliage.

Alan, this is a great idea. I will add 5 photos, probably too many. But this is the north end of my layout. You need to know that I dug out my crawl space for the layout. The first photo is of the wood I used to cover up the dirt. The last photo is of the finished scene with the waterfall.

Alan, thanks again for starting this thread. The last photo is NOT the finished scene as I have added a lot of bushes, lichen, figures, etc.

it always takes me awhile of running trains until I figure out what should go in a area. Decided on a rivervalley and a continuation of the hiking trail from rest of layout.  Rural in nature.  Foam, cardboard and luan as base for scenery, mostly scraps from rest of layout.

Southern portion...Cork roadbed is there as reference for riverbed

then the fun starts

originally  I thought this could be a drive in...Just wasn't enough room.

on north side the rock cut was extended, textured the backdrop added covers.

This the basic area on north side prior to resin pour.

Added trees, flowers ,and the farm house to complete scene on north end.

fruit stand on south end

overview after resin pours

a couple closeups

Have a good weekend..

Joe,

Awnings were on the buildings when i purchased them. Lionel did a great job in my opinion with these structures.
