FrankM. I just wanted to say that your post above is so thoughtful....I appreciate you taking the time to point out how great the pictures are of those that have posted to help and inspire others to know that they all have something to contribute. Thank you so very much!!

OK...here is a before and after (most recent...still have other details to add!) of the area where the current station is. I moved the station in the first picture to the south end of town and then replaced it with the one in picture two. The first picture was taken in early June of 2009 and the second picture is from July of this past year.

OK...thought I would do an update today....
The following pictures illustrate what I did with an aisle on the layout. I wanted a large water feature...like a canal...so I decided to put the canal in the aisle. The canal is made from a frame I custom built to fit. It has two legs on one side and hinges on the other that attach to the legs of the adjacent bench work. When I want to enjoy the canal and take pictures, I raise it up, swing the legs down and put the boats/ships on the water along with the swing bridge. All of these details are removable and can be stored just under the layout when the canal is down.

OK...here are a few pictures of "before, during, and after" of the large freight yard on the layout. While it is a freight yard, occasionally there are passenger trains that"visit"!!..
