A layout with a Pennsy theme...pictures!

Wow, that's quite a start!  Look at all that steam power.  I like the shot looking down through the girder bridge.   Whereabouts is he located Alan, is this layout down around your way?

where are you finding all these great layouts? How ever your doing it, keep it up.

Great layout featuring the greatest railroad.

Awesome layout. Really first rate. I especially like the picture of the GG1. Just a really nice look with one really cool looking locomotive.

 

This is why I love this forum. All the artistry and effort to recreate something that exist or, did exist in reality, with painstaking accuracy.

 

Those pictures reflect one very passionate attempt to recreate something many have never seen in reality. Which is another cool thing about this hobby.

 

Anyway, my compliments to the author of this thread for sharing this work.

  Thanks for posting the pics of my layout and thanks to all you guys for the great comments. as you can see I have lots of work to do. I am located about 2 1/2 hours east of Alan in the Flatlands of Arkansas. I will add more pics as I make progress. Once again thanks to all for the comments.

Let me add that Mike lives where the State Bird of Arkansas is plentiful within the Rich fields!!...Anyone want to venture what "bird" that is..???  LOL!!

That is a great looking Pennsy fleet. Are the GG 1's MTH or Lionel? What is the breakdown of the steamers - Lionel and MTH?

 

Alan, I think the Mockingbird is the state bird of the great state of Tennessee - all three of them!

I always had a weak spot for the USH  M1b  4-8-2. Now surely you must have one in there with all that Belpaired steam !

   Thanks for showing us your fine layout. I still remember the layout at your old place. Sorry about all the slobber I got on your PRR J1. The one in the yard under the coaling tower on my layout is an MTH. As for the GG1 it is a MTH. Most of the Steam Power is MTH with Weaver, Williams, K-line, Lionel and 3rd Rail mixed in for good measure.

   yes you should remember all the reefers. They all came form your shop. One of these days I will get them all assembled. The backdrops really look great on your layout. I look forward to seeing them in person.

   I have two of the good old PRR M1's both the M1a version I think. One old Weaver and the earlier Lionel version. Both are great runners.

Hey Folks,

   Anyone have any good ideas what color I should paint the windows for the Roundhouse? In the Standard Plans of the standard Railroad of the World book it list the color as a brown color. I have tried several different shades of brown and they all make the windows blend in with the brick color (Cinnamon).

Hey my friend....just leave them the nice green that they are!!  Perhaps once you get the brick weathered with a darker mortar, the windows painted brown will stand out more against the weathered brick???

That is certainly quite a layout.  I'd surely get confused with all those locomotives on the TT, imagine the power draw if you fired them all up at once!

 

Ok Mike, that did it for me. After the first of the year I am going to have to drive over to "Jonesbuggie" and see that layout. Very Very  nice.

Those pictures were from 2006. I had finished up my Army Reserve career in 2005. It is evident that 28 years of participating in the ARMY Physical Fitness Program and weight standards do have an affect on one appearance. It is also evident that not participating in the Army fitness program for the last nine years also has an affect on one's appearance
