Having grown up on the First District of the CNO&TP my entire life, I got a thrill last Saturday being able to chase NS's Southern Railway Heritage Unit on "home" rails leading southbound hotshot train 215. You can click on the images to see a larger image. I know many of you are fans and hope you enjoy them!
In a classic Central Kentucky Scene, 8099K heads through Donerail, KY just north of Lexington. There is a whole lot of Central KY in this scene, classic plank fence, open field waiting to be plowed and a tobacco barn on the horizon. A unique note - this is very close to where a scene from the "Flim Flam Man" was filmed.
In a scene that just screams "SOUTHERN RAILWAY" 8099K heads under the old Southern Railway GRS signals at Delaplain, KY. These signals are the last "untouched" GRS Signals on the First District of the CNO&TP. NS contractors have been setting up the new PTC Signals at a rapid pace.
In one final view, 8099K heads under US25 approaching Lexington.
