Yesterday, took off early from work (I'd done some needed stuff on Saturday and had to make up for that time as we can't work overtime right now), during a pretty gnarly wind storm which thankfully didn't cause any damage or power issues where I live.

I went to a VERY busy mainline, never went more than 25 minutes without seeing a train, including two running meets!

While the light was excellent, the winds were howling at the time, gusting past 25MPH a few times where I was when I took these shots.

First meet, notice the rail train's power sitting idle in the siding, just to the left of the engine coming toward me:

Garbage train. Stinky!

Amtrak Cascades. They've recently had to get rid of their Talgo trains, so this is it for now until they can get the replacements. I assume they can't go nearly as fast with these cars...

Stinky train again, elsewhere. He got stopped at a signal for a long time, near a crossover. It was a very busy day!

Just made a grade crossing and installed crossing signals.

Shark Bay Terminal FM H10-44.

Went to Southern Illinois a week ago.  Found the Tunnel Hill Trail,  dug in 1929, belonged to the Big 4, then Pennsy, then Penn Central,  500 feet long.

A 2&1/2 mile walk further down the trail and you come to the Breeden Trestle.  Real neat.

Great views of the surrounding scenery.

Finally had a little time this evening to run some engines.  Couple of my favorites,  MTH U boat pulling NPPX coalveyor hoppers and 3rd rail FT pulling a mix freight.  Let them run real slow so I can enjoy the music they make.

Third Rail: Thank you for posting your pictures! It's been 20 some years since I've been to Tunnel Hill on the former Big Four Egyptian Line, nice to see it once again!
