I've posted this elsewhere on this forum, but last night I put down some hay remnants in the cow pasture. These are cut up 'dry grass' stalks from JT Scenics. It's a little detail that I knew was missing, I just had to find some material that would look correct for it.
Hay bales are stacked just outside the fence.

Like the cow flop detail, all you need is a farm animal sound effect generator.
Ground cover looks great.
