I was in Sugar Land TX Sat. night. I heard the --0- horn, but it is not from the train. And it sounded as if it was from an early Willliams horn. Or GG-1.
SL' highway-rail crossings have an interesting twist. When a train entera the signal block, the lights and gates work. But on towers by the crossing, there are speakers which send the --0- sound down the streets. Hence, the engineer does not have to blow the train horn except in cases where somebody wants to challange Darwin. I think this a variation of the "Quiet Zone".
Also, at each crossing there is an signal with an "X". What is that for?
