In my quest to find the best way to distribute plastic snow, the kind that comes in fluffy bags from Craft stores and Dept. 56, I read about using a flour sifter in an older CTT article. It certainly does lay snow evenly just like the real thing, but my sifter seems to generate static charges resulting in the snow adhering to the metal canister. Is there any way to neutralize or prevent this from occurring? Am guessing the charges are made by the action of the metal sifter rubbing against the plastic snow flakes, and then the snow sticks to the metal sides and bottom.

Wipe the inside and outside of the sifter with a clothes dryer softener sheet.
Thanks for the tip, Susan! Its working, at least for a little while, then I wipe again.
Sounds like that stuff is bound to eventually be a problem, and get into places where you don't really want it to be...
Good Luck!

It may help if you run a thin manageable wire from the sifter to a near by ground source to attract the static charge out of the sifter to ground.
Thanks, Dave.
Bill, yes, the snow goes everywhere!
