The doors on the coach (6-15532) stopped working...well one door opens sometimes and closes when it feels like. The other 3 stay closed. Sometimes the door that opens does not close on command. As you see below I opened it up When I test the motors of the 3 doors that do not open, they run fine and the doors open and close. (I put leads from a 9v battery to the terminals on the motors). The door motor seized as soon as I apply power. However, when I remove the motor from the gear assembly and give it power it runs fine. The vertical worm gear wobbles when I remove the guide(?) on the top. I thought that was the problem. However, the vertical worm gear on the motor opposite does the same yet it works fine and opens/closes its door. I emailed Lionel explaining the problem and I did get a response. "Hello I want to point towards the breakout boards that connect to operating/LED lights service" I've asked 'Service' to explain because I have no idea what that means. I really appreciate that Service responded, but I'm clueless. [I have noticed the lights in the passengers cars over so slightly flicker...not sure what that means...] Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Two questions"
1. Any idea how to remove the overhead baggage compartment? I know I remove the 2 screws...but beyond that I'm unsure. Do I muscle it out by spreading the sides of the car, which I am loath to do, or do I have to remover the motors on the end and slide it out? I'll need to figure that out if I'm to get to the LEDs, I think.
2. Any advice as to how to remove the motor assemblies?
Thanks.
the motor/door gear assembly...I thought the one I point too was the culprit because it wobbles when the guide is removed. It's not. The working gear assembly on the adjacent motor behaves the same...but works. I think the black 'board" under the blue pointer supplies power to the cabin LEDs. There's another one on the other side.
