I am still somewhat in the dark about alerts.  When I log in, I see the red alert spot on the upper right of the page.  If I click on it, it brings me to the list of alerts.  But when I go back to the topics page, some of the newest topics are not listed on the alerts page.

Also, I have asked this question a few months ago.  I have no way of knowing when one of my posts has been quoted.

I use the back arrow, going from the alerts list to the topics list.

I'm not sure I have posed the question clearly enough.  I belong to the British large scale forum, "G Scale Central".  When I log on, there is a symbol on the upper right of the page indicating that someone has either quoted one of my posts or has "Liked" it.  On this forum I see now way of knowing when someone has done either of those two actions unless I go through each topic that I remember posting something on.

Did you set up your notification settings. If you set it up, you can get an email for each new post, new post in a section, or if your name is mentioned, or if someone 'likes' a comment you made, or a post, etc. etc.

I think there may still be a way to see alerts without using the email, but I haven't seen exactly how since the last changes got made to the profile section. ( I was fonder of the old profile set up. I said 'mail is good enough' and haven't looked much at that section since the change.

It's not as clean as what you want, but searching on "Dan Padova posted" will show you anything where you were quoted properly.  Of course, since it's text search based, it also shows this post even though I didn't quote you.

Link. I sorted this by date to show the most recent first.  Of course, as demonstrated by one of the first occurrences, it's actually a follow up post you made since someone quoted you and you then quoted them.

Is the email address in your profile correct?

Have you checked your spam filter?

Have you added the forum “from” email to your address book?

I ask all this because of you checked those boxes, the emails are being sent. It’s a fully automatic process. If you’re not getting them, either the email address is wrong or you’re blocking them and don’t know it.

another thing when you make a post there is a box to follow this post if you click that you will continue to get them. if you look down below your post about 3/4" into the blue is the box to follow

Got it.  I have been doing that, but it doesn't seem to work.

If you have clicked to follow a topic and you are not getting the emails about that topic, then something is definitely wrong on your end.

I asked in my other post if the email address in your profile is correct. Have you checked and confirmed that?

The "from" address for email from this forum is alerts@hoop.la.

Dan, I don't know what the problem is, but I can assure you that the emails are being sent. It is a completely automatic process. This forum server sends thousands of emails every day to members who have set up various alert scenarios. The emails are being blocked, deleted or junked somewhere on your end.

No luck.  As a matter of fact, when I logged on just now, there were 327 alert notices in the red circle at the top of the page.  Members are certainly talkative today.....LOL   So if it was working and I was getting the emails I am supposed to be getting, would that mean that my in box would have 327 messages ?   Not sure if that would be a good thing.
