I am proud to accept Lionel's Howard Hitchcock's ALS ice bucket challenge. I plan to do the challenge after work when I can get someone for the bucket and someone else to video. Al Kolis

The Lionel Management team recently accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Each member is donating individually, but collectively they did it in honor of Tom Rodhe, a brother of one of Lionel's engineers who passed away earlier this year. We challenge the NASCAR Licensing Team (in particular Blake Davidson, Paul Sparrow, & Heather Greene), Joe Mattes of JRM, and the LCCA Leadership Team Dennis DeVito and Al Colis.

Ed Boyle,

haveyou seen this this challenge yet?

Not to be a wet blanket here......The theory of this is great.

Please check any charity you donate to. One ALS charity has a 'administration cost' that is equal to 75% of total donations. That, in my book is not a charity but a self help group....helping themselves to your donations.  Google charity auditing before you give. Any group I donate to must have a administration cost of 20% or less. They are out there.

Also be careful doing these challenges.....two fireman cling to life in VA after one went wrong....and one reported death. Maybe just write the check.

From these two sources it would seem this charity uses it's donations ethically.
Their percentage of  allocated funds for 2012 are as follows.
Programs: 68%
Fund Raising: 21%
Administrative: 11%

And this is an eye opening list of the 50 worst charities in America.
