In going through my father's collection, I ran across 2 American Flyer Zephyr sets, one of which I need some information on.
The first one is one I've seen a few of, where it has the silver printed artwork on the lid, saying it was made in cooperation with the CB&Q.
However, last night I found another one I haven't run across before. It's in a standard Flyer box, with the label only on the side with the set number stamped on that label on the left.
Inside the train itself is in amazingly good condition, loco and cars all in original inner boxes. The boxes are stamped for the 9910 Loco, 9911 Baggage (which has the light switch, along with the paper on how to operate that from the factory), 9913 Coach and 9912 Observation (which still has a painted greenish color in the dimple where the rear light would be at the top).
The set has the Flyer track and all the original paper work, and I'll post pics this evening.
But what was the history of their Zephyr sets?
