I converted the Menards Electric Generating Station to an Oil Pumping Transfer Facility  with new signage and a tank truck at the entrance.  The building is adjacent to an oil field, so its changed identity is appropriate to the industrial neighborhood. I considered the interior diesel generator of the building as "logical" for powering the pipeline transfer machinery.  My only regret -- I sacrificed its original neon-lighted sign above the entryway.

Just for possible amusement value, here's a short clip of my Menards Oak Point nuclear power plant - pretty much a novelty item and I decided it could generate not just power but its own weather system. As the video captions say, this is Phase 1 of adding extra lighting effects and sound to the stock "disco ball" effect:

The thunderstorm module produces very realistic effects, but I am ramping them up anyway with much more "lightning" and a siren.

Nice work folks!

Speaking of Menards, I just received an email from them regarding their new O Scale Cripple Creek Tractor Repair. Looks nice and should find a home on many a layout.

My Question: has anyone changed or attempted to change the signage on any of the Menards buildings?

Was it difficult? What did you use?

This one was fairly simple.  I got some signs that came with the die cast Remington trucks and applied them as you see. Then I painted over the framed sign and added a Remington sticker and glued on some .22's just for decoration along with the owner smoking a cigar by the sign.

Count Dracula, going by the alias of Vladimir Dracul, has purchased Gamer of Thrones and re-tooled the facility. His workers have not caught on to his nefarious plans for their city, for now at least, and are just glad to have a good-paying job.

The rotating coffin was fairly easy to do: drill hole in center point (center of gravity) of bottom of coffin - and then insert onto metal post. I gave the building a dark wash with india ink and alcohol; also dulled down LEDs with paint.

Chris - I like you mods.

Here's my attempt at brining the York hotel into a more used and weathered look. The rubbery (vinyl?) walls don't take paint very well. In fact, I only got done two sides (it's a huge building) thus far. I also dulled down the hideous interior white LEDs; lots of work there, too. Before and after shots:

Using Dollhouse Hinges and Doorknobs I used Basswood panels to make doors for the Menards 2 Bay Engine House. Painted, then weathered them using a lighter to smoke up the doors. Did it outside of course! Safety first! Used Tubular Track inside the building, blackened the center rail with a Sharpie and put Basswood panels underneath the tracks blackened with a Sharpie to look like an mechanic's Bay under the track and covered stairs buildings for access to the  mechanics work pits underneath  the track and locomotives.20220505_22300820220505_22313320220505_22320720220505_22293620220505_22300820220505_22313320220505_223207
