Are smaller diesels still being built?

Seems all I ever hear about are brand new big diesels being bought by the Class 1 railroads, but I was wondering are smaller locomotives still being built and ordered by the major railroads for yard switching and local runs? Or do they have so many SD-40 sized engines on hand they aren't worried about it at this time.
